HDMI Connection Not Authorized

Bought a new TV two weeks ago, and switched from Comcast to Verizon one week ago. Since the switch to Verizon, and not before that, I'm getting an "unauthorized HDMI connection" error when I switch inputs on my TV to HDMI 1, where the Bolt is connected. Neither live nor recorded content will show, but the UI (e.g., the menus) show fine. Quickly yanking the HDMI cable and plugging it back in fixes it, until it happens again.

Any thoughts on what could be causing it? The error says something about trying a different cable, which is a bit of a PITA given my setup so I haven't done that yet. Could that really be it? Seems like too much of a coincidence.

TV is a TCL Roku 4K TV.

Bolt MoCA version

Does Bolt use MoCA ver. 1 or 2? I can't seem to find it in the specs.

Another MoCA question

I just got a Bolt and am thinking about replacing my MoCA ver. 1 network w/ver. 2. I currently have an Ethernet cable feeding an Actiontec MoCA adapter which outputs to a dedicated coax (not connected to cable/OTA antenna).

The coax then feeds a splitter across the room that connects to a second Actiontec adapter which feeds an Ethernet switch and Ethernet out to a TiVo Roamio (et. al.); and, a second coax that feeds a third Actiontec in another room. i.e.:

router>Actiontec>coax>splitter>2nd. Actiontec>switch to equip.
|
|>coax>3rd. Actiontec>switch to equip.

Can I replace the 2nd. Actiontec w/the Bolt? i.e.:

coax>Bolt>Bolt Ethernet>switch

I hope you can understand this

Bolt Streaming to PC and Portable Devices

So I am trying to understand what streaming with Tivo actually entails. I originally thought Tivo had abilities similar to a slingbox. That live tv or pre-recorded programs could be streamed to any browser or mobile device using the tivo app, at least on your home network.

I don't have much issue with my iPhone at home, every thing seems to be streaming fine, both live tv and pre-recorded programs. I just hit watch now, it begins recording and immediately beings playback.

The real trouble comes from using Tivo Online from a desktop on my home network. When I look at the guide, all channels say watch now. I hit it, select live tv, a window pops up and says its attempting to start recording and begin playback. It works on a handful of channels. Often times a blank window with a play button only appears, others I get a message saying the copyright holder does not permit streaming. The same thing happens for pre-recorded programs. I don't get it. Why can I stream the same content to my iphone without any issues. They are both on the same network. It's like the browser version is totally broken.

Can someone clarify what can and can't be streamed to what device when you are both on and off your home network. Because I called technical support and it was like talking to a wall. They kept telling me there should be no watch now button when using the browser.....

Bolt/Charter and some premium channels

New to Tivo and Cablecard. I have been using less than 2 months and recently upgraded to package that includes Starz, Epix, Encore and TMC. It gets activated and all the channels come in except the first one of each of the channel types. It is the weirdest thing. The first TMC, Starz, etc all say v58 not subscribed.

I have power cycled, connected to tivo services, and disconnected and connected the TA along the way.

Charter wasn't much help, reset, sent new signals, etc nothing helped. They are sending a tech out in a couple of days not sure what that will do unless they replace the card. Any experience or thoughts would be appreciated.

After looking at the diagram my connection is cable to TA then cable from TA to the Bolt not like the diagram.

I guess I need to buy a splitter and give that a shot too.

Missing APP and suggestion of new APP

Their use to be a streaming APP that allowed me to view 'CNet' and 'Twit' shows and I notice that the APP is no longer on my screen?? Did I do something to get it removed? If TIVO did it could they please give me back a "Twit TV" app?

Also there are free / advertising supported streaming channels that I would like to see TIVO to add:

(Sony's) Crackle movie/tv channel.
CBSN a free streaming news channel from CBS Network.

I would also love to see the CBS NETWORK app so that I could sign up for the CBS shows and when it starts streaming the new "Star Trek" series.

Pluto TV! Streaming TV from around the nation / world.

Be able to add cable TV movie channels such as HBO as part of a monthly subscription without needing to have AMAZON PRIME or local cable connected.

I would really like to see TIVO add streaming record option. This way a movie/tv show-series could be downloaded and viewed even if I might be having poor internet connection at time of viewing. Don't have to worry about the "Buffering" issues!

I had a almost 3 year old Roamio Basic that just died, and have 9 months left on the current $14.99/month plan. Can I buy a tivo bolt and just transfer that service plan over?

iPad TiVo stream picture-in-picture

I finally figured out how to stream TiVo video picture-in-picture using an iPad. Unlike most apps that shrink video to picture-in-picture just by pressing the "Home" button, to TiVo app doesn't do this. I tried opening TiVo online with Safari but the "play" buttons are missing. The trick is to use a different browser like "iCabMobile" to open the web site were the "play" buttons appear. First turn off the messages telling you to use the iPad app instead of the web page. Next you hit the "play" button, hit the "full screen" button then the picture-in-picture button. Next hit the "home" button... to get the Broswer off the screen. Now you will have a streaming TiVo in a small window in the corner of your screen.

(This browser has an interesting setting where you can make it appear to be coming from a "Windows 8” computer for instance, instead of an iPad: Settings... network... Browser ID. Don't change the Broswer ID if the default setting works.)

Of course, if there is an easier way to do it please let me know.

Never Understood Why: Power

I never understood why, when ever I have a power outage, when power is restored the TIVO will reboot itself ...that then I must do a 'remove power' reboot/cycle to get all devices on my network to see and stream shows between devices!

Just got our Bolt and replacement hard disk.
Do I activate the new Tivo with the original hard disk first, then upgrade to the new hard disk - or do I replace the hard disk right off the bat before activation?
Thanks.

Bolt + Minis + Xfinity VOD failing on 2 screens

Hi all--have my Bolt+3 mini setup working nicely. Bolt is connected via ethernet, the Minis over Moca.

Xfinity X1 is my provider. I have confirmed that the Bolt + Mini setup has serious trouble pushing two simultaneous VOD streams (one to the bolt, one to another mini). This was never a problem with Xfinity X1 any room DVR that this system is replacing.

The behavior is that both VOD stream start, but freeze quickly on both devices. Stopping one stream makes the other work fine.

Is this functionality supported? Anyone have similar issues? Thank you!

So I have a 2015 Sony 4k tv with a new Bolt hooked up to it and I cant seem to get TV to stop blacking out the screen on channel changes and when I fast forward. 1080p and 2160 are the resolutions chosen...if I do 1080p, I'm basically just turning it into a Roamio which I just got rid of...am I crazy? whats the deal?

Advantages/disadvantages Ethernet vs MOCA

I've had my Bolt and 2 minis for somewhat less than a month now. I originally tried to network the system using MOCA and Ethernet. It worked, but it screwed up internet access for all my network computers. I switched to Ethernet and it sort of worked, but I found myself having to reset my switches and/or the Minis every 3 or 4 days. I found out that TIVO doesn't like switches in the Ethernet lines. I'm sort of forced because there is an Ethernet line in every room in the house.

So, today, I switched back to MOCA, using wireless instead of wired. So far so good. Everything seems to work.

The question is: What am I losing or gaining by running MOCA? Does the slower performance of the wireless Ethernet connection cause any problems?
The wireless connection is coming off of a network extender, so it is a bit slow.

Time to Bolt?

My wife recently brought up the idea of finally canceling the cable TV service. We've been long time TiVo users (Series 2, Series 3, HD, Premiere, now Roamio) so I'm a little leery of losing the familiarity we have. Unfortunately for the cord cutting idea, we've got one of the Roamios that doesn't support OTA, which we'd like to include, so I'm wondering if the Bolt is the way to go.

I can look at specs and writeups all day, but in the end the question comes down to this. Is it a hard transition, going from nearly two decades of TiVo+cable to switch to Bolt+OTA+streaming services?

Does Bolt work with Tivo Desktop and other such programs?

Is Bolt compatible with Desktop and other transfer programs? If it is compatible, have there been any problems, as there sometimes were with prior models, such as missing sound or video or partial, incomplete transfers?

Another HDMI issue?

I have had a Bolt for about 8 months now. I had it connected to a HD TV using 1080p via HDMI 1. Sometime in the spring the TV HDMI 1 died so I had to move it to HDMI 2. In June, HDMI 2 died so I figured the TV bit the dust and I bought a 4K TV. Yesterday the picture started flashing and eventually it went black with a "No signal" message. If I connect HDMI 2 it works fine, but now nothing works on HDMI 1.

It sounds extremely weird that 3 HDMI ports have gone bad on two different TVs. I am no an HDMI expert, so I wanted to ask... Is it possible that the Tivo is hosing my HDMI ports on TVs?

Amazon Issues?

Haven't had mine long, but using Netflix UHD with resolutions set to 4k/24 and 4k/60, I get 4k/24 from Netflix and it looks great once it ramps to 2160p.

I can't seem to get it to want to load Amazon without crashing, and once it does, many times when I click on a show to watch, it just sits there with the black screen and spinning silver circle. Any ideas?

Other devices work fine, and I have a 100 down cable HSI provider.

Im currently launching the app from My Shows or whatever that first selection is called.

One Pass New Episodes picking up Previous Week

$

Hi,

Just moved from DTV to Xfinity and Tivo Bolt.

Set up One Pass Recordings for Ballers, Vice Principals, etc. and no matter how I set it up it always wants to record any of the previous weeks episodes that are in the guide that are not new.

Outcast actually has 4 episodes and 3 are from the previous 3 weeks and Tivo picks up all 4 of these.

I deleted from the Todo list the recordings that are not new, however, will this behavior continue? Or from this point on it will only record NEW episodes?
